Snow Tracks
As I Await Snowmeggdon In Ohio
It’s party sunny and very cold (2 degree Fahrenheit) this Saturday morning. The forecasters, even though trying to act solemn and serious, have been downright giddy about the impending 6-8 inches we’re supposed to get here in Delaware, Ohio. It is supposed to come like a thief in the night and, instead of stealing anything, to leave a coat a deep white blanket on our community. It should be beautiful. Especially since I have nowhere to go and three days to get there and the maintenance people in our community will plow the snow and shovel our sidewalk and driveway! No more firing up my John Deere, putting a plow on it, and driving back and forth on the 1/3 of mile driveway at Ploughshares Farm as I did for 20 years.
The bird feeders are filled. As are the people feeders, i.e. the refrigerator and pantry. Donna and I made a grocery run yesterday (to pick the essential toilet tissue and coming back $100 later) and many of the shelves were stripped bare — include of kale. That was okay with me, because I don’t like kale anyhoo.
I am holding those less fortunate than I in God’s eternal Light and Love. I pray for their safety, whether traveling on the streets or living on them. And did make a donation to a local church that serves as a warming center in our town.
Still, for Donna and me, we will enjoy the beauty of the snow. The peacefulness it brings. Muffled sounds outside. Deer and other tracks in it (just like in my photo above). All while we are safe and snug inside.
